Hope.
This is a word I still wrestle with.
Google says hope is “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.”
I asked a question a while back in a post (see below): Why pray at all?
And, something I didn’t quite touch on in that post, needs to be addressed now.
Because, as we wrap up what it means to have your heart ready for prayer, having a hopeful heart is probably one of the most important aspects.
And, I’m going to keep this short. Because it is powerful all on its own.
When we pray, we have to have a hopeful heart that God will respond in some way.
We expect and desire that God will respond.
And having a heart filled with the hope of right relationship with God…is what The Lord’s Prayer is all about.
My prayer for today
Our Father, some of us are broken. Our hopes have been dashed across the rocks. Jesus, pick us back up. Spirit, fill our hearts with hope again. And, if we have hope to spare, help us share that hope with others. Amen.
Remember
It’s okay to lose hope…just make sure you are connecting and engaging with others who can share some of their hope with you…and for you.
