Today is my 8th wedding anniversary!
Which got me thinking about about the idea of Vespers that I brought up a while back. (Feel free to check out that post below)
In my opinion, the best time to practice gratitude is at the end of the day, not quite before bedtime, during a meal or as you wrap up and reflect on your day.
And celebrating our relationships is a great way to practice gratitude.
For me, I am so thankful for my spouse of 8 years. And taking the time to pray and thank God for her being in my life…taking advantage of Vespers seems the most appropriate time possible.
For you, it may be praying with a thankful heart for one special person in your life every single evening at your own Vespers.
Whatever it looks like, practicing gratitude for the relationships in your life, is an important spiritual discipline. And and evening prayer may be the best time to keep working that discipline.
My prayer for today
Our Father, thank you for Kaila, my wife, and the mother of my children. Thank you for putting her in my life to test me and push and sharpen me…and to catch me when I fall. Help all of us find a special time to practice being grateful for our friends and loved ones. Amen.
Remember
Start making a habit to pray something similar to, “Our Father, thank you for ____ being in my life” and think of someone new every single day.
