Jesus says in the New Testament for those “Who have eyes to see and ears to hear” to listen to what he has to say.
And I think that we can take all of that to mean that Jesus was asking people to pay attention to what is going on around them, the miracles he is performing, but I also think it has a lot to do with us today.
Jesus is calling us to see the world around us.
And that means praying for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, like The Lord’s Prayer tells us.
The Psalms say that the heavens, meaning the created world, declare God’s glory. And to pray for the things of heaven to be here on earth starts by seeing heaven on earth.
Which means we need to pray for eyes to see heaven around us.
To see the potential for heaven on earth.
Eyes to see how heaven can break into earth and pray for those things to happen (and how we might participate in it).
My prayer for today
Our Father, let us see your glory every single day. Amen.
Remember
Take a moment to pay attention to the world around you and see where God’s creation reveals God’s will for earth and for you.
