This is the last Our Father Daily for 2023, so I wanted to do a wrap up post.
First, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for participating and being a part of the Our Father Daily readership. Your support means the world to me.
That being said, I wanted to highlight some of the “Greatest Hits” from this year.
However, before diving into that, I wanted to give you all an idea of what is in the future of Our Father Daily.
What’s next?
When I started Our Father Daily I was still running my content marketing business and planning on investing a lot of time and energy and resources into marketing my book Pray, the inspiration behind this newsletter.
Since launching Our Father Daily, my life has changed substantially—I’ve taken a major step away from “content publishing” (as I call it) and have moved into a full time role working with kids.
With that in mind, Our Father Daily takes a little bit more work for me to keep up with nowadays.
However, I am not giving up on or slowing down Our Father Daily.
I am, though, at a place where I need to be gaining something from my time, energy, and resources I’ve invested into Our Father Daily.
With that in mind, there are a couple of ideas I have banging around in my head about how to grow and potentially monetize some of the content that comes out of here.
One idea I have in the works already is to take some of my favorite posts, expand on them, and write a book about how to pray if you are starting out or new to the faith entirely. This would also end up being a completely free resource to subscribers of Our Father Daily, but might be monetized or possibly published in paperback at a reasonable price!
One thing I would appreciate those of you who have subscribed considering, though, is to “upgrade” to a paid subscription. This is the simplest way I can think of to “donate” if you would want to support the continued work of Our Father Daily.
Don’t feel like you have to, but the option is there! In fact, I’ll put it right below so you can check it out if you so choose!
Now, with that out of the way, let’s move on to the Greatest Hits from 2023!
Our Father Daily Greatest Hits
The most popular post from 2023, by far, was this one:
Prayers for changing/new work
I probably have not been more scared in my life than when I realized one day after leaving ministry that I had no “next career” lined up. When the money started draining from our account because of bills and things…absolutely terrifying. Thankfully, I had a great part time job. I was able to talk to my managers and just b…
The 2nd most popular post from 2023 is honestly one of my favorites:
Joy in prayer
Photo by Ben White on Unsplash The other night, my youngest daughter just wanted some attention. So we were playing together and she started saying, “Sing after me!” “PRAISE YE THE LORD!” And we sang that song for about 5 minutes straight as she waved her arms around like she was directing a choir.
#3 of our Greatest Hits is my favorite I’ve ever written, and one that is near and dear to my own heart:
The resounding "Yes" we all want to hear
I think, if we are being honest, people don’t like to pray because they won’t get to hear that word, “yes.” Think about it. People only start praying when they need God to pull through and help them with something. We see it all the time. And it is soul-crushing, sometimes literally, when we don’t get the answer we want…when we want it.
Our 4th Greatest Hit of 2023 was none other than:
Praying With Your Friends
Maybe this is just me, but I have always struggled to pray with (not necessarily for) my closest friends. For some reason, I get so much more nervous praying for a loved one or a dear friend than I do a total stranger. I’m sure it has a lot to do with caring more what the person you are praying with thinks of your ability to pr…
And, to wrap up the Greatest Hits from the Our Father Daily archive:
Learning how to listen
Photo by Christina @ wocintechchat.com on Unsplash Last week I had a business meeting where someone was pitching me a coaching program. During the entire process, I kept trying to pray and listen carefully for how God might be responding to me. Because prayer requires active listening skills like anything else, I was trying to pay close attention to anythi…
I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Thank you all so much, again, for your love and support.
I am so excited to see what 2024 brings for Our Father Daily!
Our Father, thank you for the blessing of writing Our Father Daily this past year. Jesus, continue to use me and fill me with words that can help those learning to the spiritual practice of prayer. Spirit, let my words be your words. Amen.
