I was at a wedding this weekend for my best friend, Trent.
There were thunderstorms that morning.
But, shoot, if the weather didn’t end up being almost perfect by the time the ceremony started…
…in South Carolina there was a pretty good chance of the weather being a little bit on the warm side.
But those storms brought in a bit of cooler weather and a nice breeze.
And when that ceremony started, it was almost perfect.
…
And while I had the pleasure of standing at the front as one of his groomsmen, I got to see the smile on his face as Sam walked down the aisle, the sheer joy between the two of them as they stood at the proverbial altar, and the screams of my daughters as they ran all over the place (okay, that last one was a different kind of joy…probably more annoying to others).
But my family was there.
My friends were there.
And I got to celebrate something so joyful.
I prayed The Lord’s Prayer as I stood during the ceremony. And I prayed, “Praise God from whom all blessings flow.”
Finding glimpses of Heaven and giving praise for those moments feels inadequate. But it’s what we can do. Thanking “Our Father in Heaven” with the recognition that God’s Kingdom is coming soon.
My prayer for today
Our Father, may we keep our eyes peeled, our hearts open for those moments when Heaven meets earth. Amen.
Remember
If something makes you pause for a moment…make sure to honor that. You don’t have to drop to your knees and wail. But you can smile and say, “Thank you,” to your Father in Heaven.
