I’ve touched on this subject before in Our Father Daily, but I think it is worth discussing again.
The 2020s have been some of the most difficult and trying times, financially and otherwise, for my family.
And we are entering another season of our finances being incredibly tight and I catch myself wondering all the time, “How am I going to pay all of our bills?”
But, I’ve been in this situation before…
…and there was no way we should have been able to afford our house, our car, gas, groceries, adding another person to the family, etc.
Yet God provided.
And The Lord’s Prayer tells us to pray, “Give us today the food we need,” because we have to pray for God to provide what we need everyday and rely on God. Sure, we can make sure our own needs are met…but God makes meals out of a handful of fish and a few loaves of bread.
God multiplies our efforts when we seek for God to provide for us in addition to our own efforts.
Properly praying this part of The Lord’s Prayer includes putting in our own efforts and work and letting God take care of a multiply the rest!
My prayer for today
Our Father, thank you for your provision in times past. Help me to realize how good you have been to me when I needed you, how good you have been to others. Spirit, empower me with belief that goes beyond my own understanding. Amen.
Remember
It’s a spiritual practice to pray for God to provide for your needs every day. And it’s one worth making a habit because God can multiply your efforts far more than you’ll ever be able to on your own.
