If we are being honest with ourselves, much of our prayer life is spent asking God for things or praying for things to improve or get better.
But what do we do during the times when it doesn’t feel like there is much to pray about?
I’ve had some really, really good days.
And, when I reflect on those days, I don’t know that I prayed at all that day.
Is it because we didn’t feel the need to “bother God” with anything on that particular day so just didn’t pray at all?
You’ve probably been there, too.
But, I’d challenge you to think back to what I said a long time ago in this post below:
Prayer is about community and communion.
Even when we have “nothing” to pray for (spoiler: we do), the point of prayer isn’t to prayer for something. It’s about relationship. With God and Others.
So, on those good days…
…pray with gratitude.
Take a minute to thank God for what is making you smile, laugh, or happy cry.
Then, remind yourself to show gratitude for those around you who are making that happen, too.
I love you.
Thank you.
I appreciate you.
These are little ways you can pray for others even when it doesn’t feel like it. Because you are recognizing the role they are playing in your life and offering a prayer of gratitude for them…to them.
So on the best of days, remember to be grateful and to show gratitude towards others.
My prayer for today
Our Father, good days feel hard to come by. So thank you for the happy tears, the laughing so hard you can’t breathe moments, and the things that bring a genuine smile to our face. Amen.
Remember
Gratitude is easily forgotten, difficult to practice, but adds exponential joy to your life when you practice it well.
