Hopefully you have a job that you enjoy.
But even on the best of days, your job and work likely has parts to it that drive you a little bit crazy.
For me, there are days where I thoroughly enjoy my work and days when I am tired of this or that.
In my content marketing work, it’s the constant search for new clients. And for my work at the gym, listening to toddlers scream for hours on end can be less than relaxing.
Yet, if I want to take my Kingdom work seriously, then I have to take the good with the bad.
But that doesn’t negate how awful it feels sometimes when your work leaves you feeling…lacking…
And God doesn’t want us to ignore when our work is less than ideal, but, at the same time, we should be praying for and through those moments when we hate our work.
Please understand, leave a toxic work environment by all means. Don’t misunderstand what I am saying here.
Sometimes, though, it’s less about the work being awful and more about our lack of realizing how our work is actually building the Kingdom or being useful to society in some way.
Praying for understanding our work can go a long way to helping us hate our work just a *little* bit less.
My prayer for today
Our Father, I need help realizing that my work isn’t as bad as it seems. In fact, I am so thankful for some of the opportunities I have with my work. Spirit, guide me to a better understanding of how my work is building the Kingdom. Amen.
Remember
When you hate your job, try thinking through and praying through whether you are in the right work for the way God wants you to participate in building God’s Kingdom.
