How to pray about difficult decisions
I've made a few, but I've learned from those further along than me

Even recently, I’ve had to make some difficult decisions that affect both me and my family, our livelihood, our finances.
It’s a hard pill to swallow, but let me share a story.
In 2020, I started my own content marketing business.
2021 and 2022 were incredible years for my business, but then 2023 started a major downturn.
Slowly but surely, my business dwindled away to basically nothing. Which means that my income was dwindling away.
And what once was a $6k/mo income became a $500/mo income. Over the span of a couple of months (the reasons why are a whole other conversation).
So I had a choice to make: find full-time work or double down on my business and hope we can survive the dip in income somehow.
Which, when I discussed this with my mentor, he gave me some great advice. Pray about it.
And I think it’s obvious advice…but how do I pray for about difficult decisions?
Ultimately, Jesus gives us the answer…but I don’t like it…
“May your kingdom come soon, may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…don’t let us give in to temptation”
There’s your three-part answer right there.
Pray about what is best for your role in the kingdom
Pray for God’s will instead of your own
Pray that you don’t be tempted by something that you think is “better”
And that’s exactly what I did.
I decided to largely step away from my business, or at least growing my business any further. Instead, I found a way to go full time working with kids at the gym I already worked at.
And here’s why:
I felt that my role working with kids was more impactful to the kingdom than my copywriting work
I felt God was opening doors for me to step into a full time role at the gym
I had to shut down all the ways I was bringing in new business so that I could dedicate the time to having a full-time gig again
And while the finances aren’t lining up where I want them (yet), I am feeling 100% more fulfilled than I ever was with my business.
Praying about a difficult decision isn’t easy, but it is simple.
Don’t give up, dig in, and keep praying.
My prayer for today
Our Father, help me feel comfortable in the fact that I have to make difficult decisions. Jesus, give me the peace to know that you are guiding and walking alongside me. Spirit, grant us patience as we seek answers to difficult decisions. Amen.
Remember
Praying with others on difficult decisions is always a blessing.
