Don’t think I’ve forgotten the admin staff, substitute teachers, janitorial staff, etc. that make our school systems run!
Without them…nothing would be happening.
And no school is run perfectly.
No school system has everything locked down.
Schools are constantly changing and growing, much like their students.
As I wrap up talking about how to pray for school staff and faculty, I just want to make sure we are offering up prayers of appreciation, encouragement, and overall joy for our schools and the students attending them.
And, while we are at it, shout out to all the homeschoolers out there that think I forgot about them ;)
The faculty and staff (and homeschool parents and cohorts) are the ones cleaning up the messes, having to worry about discipline, fielding the difficult conversations with parents…they do the grueling work that makes it all possible.
The tricky part is recognizing that this means praying for school staff (from teachers to janitors) even when you are in disagreement with them.
They have to make choices for the good of their entire school, which might come at a cost to your child or someone you know.
And praying for them and trying to be encouraging to them despite that fact is difficult…but necessary.
Give yourself the patience to understand why they make the decisions they do and ask questions to dig deeper into their decisions (you might be surprised).
My prayer for today
Our Father, thank you for the staff that keep things running smoothly that we are often forget about. Give them grace and peace for this school year. Amen.
Remember
If you know a school faculty or staff member, make sure to reach out and let them know you are praying for them. Better yet, ask them if there is anything you can be praying for them for the school year.
And then follow up!
