Aaaaaaand we’re back!
Sorry for the delay, but life is back to normal and I am SO excited to announce a SUPER cool project in the next couple of weeks. (It’s both prayer AND devotional related)
Two weeks ago, the founding pastor of the church I attend gave a sermon about praying boldly patient prayers.
The point was that to faithfully follow Jesus means to pray both boldly…but also patiently.
That things would happen and God’s power would be displayed now…
…and that we are willing to wait for them…
This was one aspect of his sermon, but it’s EXACTLY what I think Jesus is reminding us to pray for when he tells us to pray, “May your Kingdom come soon.”
May God’s Kingdom come soon…but also, with the recognition that it isn’t here yet.
To pray in expectation, but to pray for that moment to be now.
And how can we model that in our daily lives?
Praying as if our prayers have already been answered
Praying as if we know our prayers will be answered
Praying as if we understand that our prayers may take time to be answered
This takes practice.
It takes a lot of will power to pray for something that isn’t happening yet…but that we know WILL happen.
It starts with gratitude for the things God has done, is doing, and will do in our lives.
My prayer for today
Our Father, thank you for all the good you have done, are doing, and will do in my life. It’s easy to forget and overlook the good things because the bad can seem so overwhelming. Spirit, help me keep my eyes on the good…even when the bad is surrounding me. Amen.
Remember
You can be both bold and patient in your prayers by staying grateful and thankful for the good things from God…so take time to think of three things you are grateful for. Right now. Before you close this post.
